Short blog post this month…
I got tired of students submitting papers in weird formats, even through I clearly stated both in class AND in the syllabus, what the format should be. Then I realized that some students didn’t know how to do basic word processing – such as how to change the Word Heading Style 1 from blue Aptos 20 to black, bolded Times New Roman 12. Sooo… I created a checklist of what they should know how to do. This is take-home work on the first day of class and I tell them to refer to it when I discuss the assignments. I tell the students that if they don’t know how to do something, the checklist topics should tell them how to Google it. Some students have actually used it to learn some things! (I might be a bit negative today.)
Anyway, thought you might be able to use or develop something similar, so am attaching a Word version. Here’s an image of it…
